Quick questions.

When can I start prenatal pilates?
Most clients start at the end of the first trimester onward, after their doctor or midwife clears them. ACOG (Committee Opinion 804) supports regular moderate exercise throughout uncomplicated pregnancies.
Do I need a doctor's note?
We recommend talking to your OB or midwife before starting any new movement practice during pregnancy. If you're already a regular client, we can usually continue with modifications immediately.
What if I've never done pilates before?
A semiprivate intro class is the right first step, we'll walk you through reformer fundamentals at a slower pace and tailor everything to your pregnancy.
Which instructors specialize in prenatal?
Mention you're pregnant in your booking notes when you book and we'll match you with an instructor experienced in prenatal modifications.
Is it safe in every trimester?
Yes, with modifications. We avoid supine positions after the first trimester, skip deep twists, and focus on pelvic floor, breath, and functional strength rather than peak intensity. ACOG notes most exercise modalities are safe in uncomplicated pregnancies with appropriate modification.
I have an injury or condition. Can I still come?
Yes. Every instructor at The Studio is comprehensively certified and trained to modify around injuries, conditions, pregnancy, postpartum, surgery recovery, hypermobility, and more. At the top of every class your instructor will ask if anyone has anything to know about, this isn't a formality, please speak up. Letting us know means we can keep you safe, get you the most out of class, and watch your form throughout.
Do you offer postnatal classes too?
Yes, see our postnatal pilates page for postpartum recovery classes, typically starting 6-8 weeks after delivery (or after your provider clears you).

Lexxi discovered Pilates after being involved in a hit & run car accident that left her with minor bursitis in one knee and a herniated disc in her lumbar spine. Before the accident, she enjoyed heavy weight lifting and cardio but was cautious about getting back into her routine and not interfering with chiropractic adjustments. And thus, her love for Pilates was born! She originally picked up Mat Pilates to learn more about the foundations until she took her first class at The Studio. The community The Studio has to offer from the exceptionally knowledgable instructors to a beautiful and peaceful space to move, she was inspired to become an Instructor. Lexxi completed her 500-hr Comprehensive Certification in Dec 2024 and she continues to learn, grow and find enjoyment within the Contrology that Pilates brings.

I am originally from Puerto Rico and grew up dancing, which sparked a lifelong connection to movement. After hip surgery in my teens, I discovered Pilates during rehabilitation as a way to rebuild strength, restore flexibility, and reconnect with my body. What began as part of my recovery quickly evolved into a transformative mind–body practice that reshaped my relationship with movement and with myself. Pilates not only helped me trust my body again, but also cultivated mental resilience and self-belief that now extend into every aspect of my life. Inspired by this journey, I became a Pilates instructor to help others discover the same strength and resilience within themselves—enhancing not only the way they move, but their overall quality of life.
