Quick questions.

I'm 70+. Is this really for me?
Yes, and you're in good company. The reformer is one of the safest pieces of strength equipment available because the resistance is adjustable and every move is supported. Many of our happiest clients started Pilates in their 60s and 70s.
I have arthritis / knee replacement / shoulder issues. Can I still come?
Almost always. Our instructors are trained to work around joints and modify any move. Let us know what's going on when you book and we'll match you with an instructor who's seen it before.
Will this help my balance and bone density?
Reformer Pilates uses spring-based resistance and trains balance through deep-stabilizer work. CDC fall-prevention guidance highlights strength and balance training as key strategies for adults over 65. Harvard Medical School notes resistance training is among the most effective ways to maintain function with age.
How long are classes?
Group classes are 50 minutes; private sessions are 55 minutes. The reformer is supportive throughout, most movements are seated or lying down with the springs providing assistance, not just resistance.
I can't get up and down from the floor easily. Is that a problem?
No. The reformer is at chair height, you sit or step on, you don't kneel down. We have grab handles and instructors who will assist on/off. Tower classes are similar.
I have arthritis, joint replacements, or other issues. Will I have to sit out?
Yes. Every instructor at The Studio is comprehensively certified and trained to modify around injuries, conditions, pregnancy, postpartum, surgery recovery, hypermobility, and more. At the top of every class your instructor will ask if anyone has anything to know about, this isn't a formality, please speak up. Letting us know means we can keep you safe, get you the most out of class, and watch your form throughout.
Are there accessibility accommodations?
If you have a specific mobility consideration, email us before your first class and we'll walk through the studio with you and plan modifications. Both reformer rooms are on the ground floor at our two Atlanta locations.

After hip surgery in my teens, I discovered Pilates during rehabilitation as a way to rebuild strength, restore flexibility, and reconnect with my body. I have always loved movement, trying everything from basketball, to track, to gymnastics since I was a kid. In college, I wanted to find more mindful movement and decided to pursue a 200hr Power Yoga Certificate. Through a studio I was teaching at was introduced to the reformer! I fell in love with the ability to move mindfully while adding resistance. The therapeutic ability of Pilates to achieve better physical and metal wellbeing of the practitioner is so important to me, as I’ve found it very healing myself.
