Comprehensively certified Every instructor trained to modify
Low-impact Springs vs. ground reaction
Strength-first Trains stabilizers + mobility your sport skips
Is pilates the right cross-train?
Yes, if you…
- You want to train rotational control + power
- You're working on single-leg stability or balance
- You want strength under load without high impact
- You're building mobility without losing strength
- You need an active recovery day in your training plan
Maybe, if you…
- You're in a heavy training block, start with 1x/week
- You're new to Pilates, semiprivate intro first
- You're returning from injury, get provider/PT clearance
- You want pure cardio, try our jumpboard format specifically
Hold off if…
- You're in an active injury flare without PT clearance
- You're already at maximum recovery load
- You want a pure HIIT replacement, we're strength-first
Train consistently.
A consistent 1-2 reformer sessions per week pairs well with most training plans. Solo privates are the best fit when you're working around a specific weak link.

Quick questions.
Will Pilates make me stronger or just more flexible?
Both. The reformer's spring resistance trains the deep stabilizers most strength + cardio training plans skip, plus the mobility work most active people underdo. The benefit varies by training plan and how often you come.
Is this hard enough for someone with a strong training background?
Yes. The reformer's springs go heavy and the eccentric/concentric control demands are real. Most athletes underestimate it the first time and walk out humbled. We can scale challenge with spring load + lever length on every move.
What movement qualities should I focus on?
It depends on what your sport demands and where you tend to leak energy. For most athletes the highest-value targets are single-leg stability, rotational control, hip + thoracic mobility, and deep-core strength under load. These come up in nearly every class. Talk to your instructor about what you're training for and they'll help you prioritize.
Can I do this on a hard training day?
Better suited to a recovery day or a moderate day. Reformer work isn't catabolic but it does add neural load, pair it with the right intensity day in your training plan.
Do you have classes timed around training schedules?
We run early-morning, lunchtime, and evening classes daily at both studios. Easy to fit around any other training block in your day.
What if I show up with a tight quad or a tweaked hip?
Tell your instructor at the top of class, that's exactly when they'll ask. Every instructor at The Studio is comprehensively certified and trained to modify in real time, around tight spots, tweaks, or anything you're working through. We'd rather give you the right exercise on the wrong day than push through and set you back.
Is there a specific class for athletes?
No, and that's on purpose. Our Sculpt and HIIT/Jumpboard classes are the most athletic formats we run, but they aren't designed for athletes specifically. For real athletic development we recommend pairing our standard Signature Reformer and Tower classes with regular private sessions. Pilates is a system — stability, balanced movement, and rotational control are best built by choosing how much assistance or challenge you need on a given day. Each apparatus (reformer, tower, mat) loads or supports the body differently, so the right answer is rarely one class on repeat. Tell us what you're training for and we'll map a mix that supports it.
