How Studio Sessions picks come together
Behind the scenes on how our instructors pick a theme and build a playlist for Studio Sessions. The quiet half of the week that makes the music week work.

Hi Studio Fam,
You’ve seen the Studio Sessions emails, and if you came to Halloween Week last month you felt the whole thing in the room. What you probably didn’t see is the quiet half of the week that makes the music week work. Here’s how a theme actually gets picked, a playlist actually gets built, and a Monday morning Reformer II actually ends up as “Lilith Fair with Lindsey”.
The pick
About three weeks out, every instructor on the schedule that week gets a form in their Instructor App. It says, “Studio Sessions is on. Here are your classes for the week. Pick one, pick a theme.” The themes are first come, first served, and taken ones get crossed out so nobody doubles up. Most instructors have an answer within a day. A few hold out for the right idea.
The playlist
Once the theme is locked in, the instructor puts together a playlist and sends us the Spotify link. We load it into Soundtrack (our studio music system) as “First Name – Theme (Studio Sessions)” so it sits in the library all week and is ready the second class starts. We also rename the class on Momence so you can spot it in the schedule and in the booking widget, with a cassette-cover thumbnail on the right-hand side.
The class
The class itself is the one your instructor was going to teach anyway. Same reformer, same level, same spring loads, same intention. The music is the invitation to show up with your friends in a wig. If it’s a Reformer II, it’s still a Reformer II. If it’s a Jumpboard, it’s still a Jumpboard. We’d never trade the quality of the class for the theme.
