Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your first (or fiftieth) class.

Getting Started

I've never tried Pilates. What should I expect?
First off, you're going to love it. Pilates is incredibly beginner-friendly. We recommend starting with an Intro class where group sizes are tiny (max 3 people) so your instructor can give you personal attention.

You'll get a quick walkthrough of the reformer (that's the bed-looking thing with springs, and it's less scary than it looks, promise), learn some basic terminology, and then move through a shorter version of a Level I class.

Tip: Arrive 10 minutes early to your first class. Wear socks (grip socks are best but not required, we sell them too!), comfortable clothes, and bring water. That's it.
Do I need to be fit or flexible to start?
Absolutely not. Pilates meets you where you are. The reformer's spring resistance is adjustable, so every exercise can be modified to your level. We have members who are 20 and members who are 70+. Runners, desk workers, new moms, complete beginners... everyone belongs here.

Our instructors are trained to offer modifications for every body. Just let them know about any injuries or concerns before class.
What should I wear? What do I need to bring?
Comfortable, form-fitting clothes work best (think leggings and a tank). Avoid anything too baggy since it can get caught in the springs. You'll want socks (grip socks are ideal but regular socks work fine for your first visit). We sell grip socks at the studio if you want to grab a pair.

Bring a water bottle. We provide everything else: the reformer, the vibes, and the motivation.

Booking & Classes

How do I book a class?
Booking is available through our website or through Momence (our booking platform). You can also drop in at the studio, just arrive early to complete signup paperwork.

We recommend booking in advance since classes fill up fast, especially morning and evening slots.
What's the cancellation policy?
We ask for 12 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a lost class credit (for packages) or a fee (for memberships). We know life happens, just try to give us a heads up so someone on the waitlist can grab your spot!
Can I bring a friend?
Yes! We love it. Have them sign up for their own Intro class or book a class together. Reformer Pilates with a friend is always more fun (and someone to commiserate with during those last 5 reps).

Memberships & Pricing

What are the membership options?
We keep it simple. Choose how often you want to come:

1x per week (4 classes/month)
2x per week (8 classes/month), most popular
3x per week (12 classes/month)
Unlimited, come every day if you want

Each tier has month-to-month and 3-month commitment pricing. Longer commitment = lower rate. Check out our Membership Finder to see pricing for your studio.
Do you offer drop-in classes or class packs?
Yes! If a membership isn't your thing, we offer single drop-in classes and class packs (5-pack, 10-pack, 20-pack). Packs don't expire for 6 months and give you a per-class discount vs. drop-in pricing.
Can I use my membership at both studios?
Standard memberships are for one location. If you want to train at both Emory and West Midtown, we offer a Both Studios membership option. It requires a 3-month commitment but gives you the freedom to bounce between locations based on your schedule.

The Studio

What's the parking situation?
Emory: Street parking is available in front of the studio and behind the building. To access the back lot, turn onto the side entry between the laundromat and Potter Place, then turn left, and any of those spots are yours. You can also park in the Savi lot directly behind Savi Market.

West Midtown: Free parking available in the lot directly in front of the studio entrance. Easy in, easy out.
Where are you located?
We have two studios in Atlanta:

Emory: 1583 N Decatur Rd, Atlanta, GA 30307 (Open in Maps)
West Midtown: 763 Trabert Ave NW Unit D, Atlanta, GA 30318 (Open in Maps)

Check out our studio pages for photos and more details about each location.
Do you have events?
Yes! We host pop-ups from local makers, live DJ classes, seasonal challenges, and community events throughout the year. Follow us on Instagram to stay in the loop.

Class Levels & Types

How do the class levels work?
We use a progressive level system so you build skills safely:

Intro: Your very first class. Max 3 people. Learn the reformer basics.
Level I (Beginner): Foundation classes. Great for newer movers.
Level II (Intermediate): Requires 5+ Level I classes. Faster pace, more challenge.
Level 1.5: The bridge between I and II. Building confidence.
Level III (Advanced): Requires 10+ Level II classes. Peak Pilates.

Not sure which level? Email us at questions@thestudiopilates.com and we'll help you find the right fit.
What's the difference between Reformer and Tower?
Reformer: The sliding carriage with springs. Most of our classes use the reformer. Great for building long, lean strength.

Tower: A vertical frame attached to the reformer with springs and bars. Tower classes focus on standing work, balance, and flexibility.

Reformer x Tower: The best of both worlds. These classes use both pieces of equipment in one session.
What are Specialty classes (Sculpt, HIIT, Glutes & Abs)?
Beyond our Signature classes, we offer targeted formats:

Reformer Sculpt: Upper body + arms focus.
HIIT Reformer: High-intensity intervals on the reformer. Cardio + strength.
Glutes & Abs: Targeted lower body + core.
Lengthen & Stretch: Slower pace, deep stretching. Great for recovery days.
Mom Club: Prenatal and postpartum-friendly classes with modifications for every stage.
Reformer for Seniors: Gentle, supportive classes focusing on balance and mobility.
